CeD3 Communication to Key Contacts May 2014
Back to Project Updates
Reporting Period
Dear Key Contacts,
I am pleased to advise that the CED3 Project is proceeding to schedule and there have been several developments since my last update.
The assessment of the business analytics/intelligence tools has resulted in the selection of Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS). SSRS will be used in conjunction with Microsoft SharePoint to deliver the reporting element of CED3. I am sure most members will have staff familiar with these products and with experience in their use.
CEnet have advertised for a Data Warehouse Analyst and applications closed Friday 9 April 2014. The applications are currently being processed. This position will be focussed on the data analysis and report development for CED3. I will provide further information once the appointment has been made.
As advised in the March communication the project team is busy building the diocesan staging database and is currently working with a couple of dioceses as pilots. Work is in progress with Sydney and Canberra Goulburn. Townsville will commence its pilot shortly. Once the pilots are complete we will be looking to on-board other members.
In order to be ready for using CED3 in your diocese when it is released in October, we need you to start taking some steps to ensure you are prepared. We have created a set of suggested actions below that you can follow to ensure that your diocese is ready for the CED3 data collection. I would ask you to ensure this information is provided to the appropriate person(s) in your office. I have already provided the CIO/CTO of your office with a copy of this update.
1. Review the staging data dictionary attachment and attempt to record where each required field is represented in your source systems.
Best wishes
